Longonot - Michael's view / Longonot - Michael piše ještě

Firstly, full marks to Jack and particularly to Selby. It was a hell of a climb! Here they are at 2,777 m.

Jakub a Selby na vrcholu hory.

It wasn't just a Ben Nevis uphill hike: there was a fair bit of boldering required to get to the summit.

Nebyl jenom  procházka!

This shows the crater several hundred metres below - we are standing on the rim. Vera said the volcano was officially dormant - but we saw lots of steam coming out!                                                     Tady jsme nahoře kráter vulkáně.

Vera mentioned the drive back. The Kenyans are the worst drivers with whom I have ever had to share a road - and their roads are a shambles. If you drive fast, you destroy your suspension on potholes and hidden speed ramps. If you drive slowly, overtaking lorries help you off the road. Jerry-built infrastructure and an utterly selfish "might is right" approach to road use make driving an unpleasant experience in this country. One thing I didn't feel like putting on the blog after we first went to Naivasha was that on the way back I saw a dead child by the side of the road. From his injuries it was clear he had been hit, relatively recently, by a truck. The trucks stop for no-one. They overtake on blind bends because, being so big, they know that it's the car coming the other way that will end up in trouble.
