Zen Outreach in Kenya / meditace v západní Kenya

Last weekend I went west about 400 km to the shores of Lake Victoria, having been invited to assist in instructing a small Zen group.

The instruction happened in the middle of nowhere. (The local children had seen cars driving past on the far side of the valley, but ours was the first they had touched.) Thus we weren't sure if we were there simply to teach them, or to be kidnapped and/or robbed, so the group leader (who took this photo) invited me along not just for any experience I might have as a meditation instructor, but also because I possess my own machete.

Fortunately the natives were friendly, so we got in, taught and got out without sustaining anything worse than rock damage to the underside of our vehicle.

Minulý víkend šel jsem učit meditace u Lake Victoria. Byl v přírodě - tak, nevědělí jsme, když invitace byl jenom za meditace nebo za únos a loupež. Jako Old Shatterhand, přinesl jsem mačetu - ale nebyl problem.

Jack's first match for a school 1st XI / Jakubova první hra pro prvních XI

On Wednesday, for the first ever time, Jack was picked to represent a prep school 1st XI - not bad, considering he's still in Year 7. (His dad represented his prep school 1st XV for the first time, at almost exactly the same age on almost exactly the same day 33 years ago!)

The sport was hockey, away to Brookhouse. Kenton won 3-2. Jack, as always, played in defence - and frankly, was the only defender mobile enough to actually engage in any marking! (See photo - he's easy to spot for that reason!)

Ve středu, Jakub hrál poprve pro první jedenáctku - není špatný, kdiž je jenom v šesté třídě. ( Jeho táta byl v první jedenáctce poprve, a byl skoro přesňe tak starý, a skoro na stejném dnu před 33 lety!)

Sport byl ve škole jménem Brookhouse. Kenton vyhrál 3-2. Jakub, jako vždycky, byl jediný obránce který byl tak dostatečně v pohybu aby mohl stínit. (Koukňete se na obraz - Jakub je snadno vidět z toho důvodu.)

Percy Pigs at the Hog Charge aneb jízda na kole v Africe

Earlier today, Jack spent his 12th birthday morning riding in the Percy Pigs team. They didn't win, but as you can see, they had a lot of fun. Thank you to all his sponsors, although Jack is planning to write to them as well. Jack's now relaxing at home with bacon sannies (a birthday treat) and cake to follow.
Takhle trávil Jakub narozeniny dnes ráno. Jízda na kole s kamarády trvala 2 hodiny. Akce byla pro charitativní účely. Nyní odpočívá doma (lepí letadlo) a teší se na dort.
